Support of Universal Church
General - The Archdiocese of San Francisco supports the ministry of the California Conference of Bishops, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Holy See through financial contributions and via the bishops and staff serving on committees of all three groups.
Communications - The responsibilities of the Archdiocesan Office of Communications include internal communications to pastors, clergy, religious and laity, and external communications such as media relations, public relations, public information and special projects. The Office produces two newspapers: Catholic San Francisco, which is mailed 40 times a year to approximately 85,000 households in the Archdiocese, and El Heraldo Catolico, which is distributed monthly to approximately 35 parishes in the Archdiocese. Programs produced for television include “Mosaic” on KPIX and "For Heaven’s Sake” on KRON. The Office of Communications also is responsible for the websites http://www.sfarchdiocese.org/ and http://www.catholic-sf.org/ and for the Official Directory of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Income-producing activities of the Office of Communications (newspaper and directory advertising, publication sales, direct contributions and other sources of revenue) fund approximately one half of its total expense.
